I have moved to the Orlando area in Florida. The majority of the team is still training and doing great in Fishkill, NY. I am still coaching/programming for them and other remote athletes around the country. The move with the family is a great new adventure for us. Leaving NY was bittersweet. I will absolutely miss the in person interactions with the team and our extended family at Ascension Athletics. At one of our last team sessions, my peeps threw me a little goodbye party and gave me some really cool gifts that have tremendous sentimental value. I am so grateful to have worked with such a good bunch of people that I’m happy to call friends.
The team will continue in Fishkill overseen by Coach Jemel, along with Coaches Ian, Cheyenne, & Emily.
I still have some unfinished business in NY and will remain on the NY WSO board until that is done. On that note, I am proud of all the work done by the board over the 7 years that I’ve been involved (WSO & LWC). I am grateful to have worked with many caring individuals over the years who have built NY weightlifting into what it is today. There were many challenges along the way, but together, we have worked wonders. In no particular order, many thanks to: James McDermott, current President, Chris Smith, past LWC President, Frank Ford, Jerry Dunne, Erica Caso, Alyssa Gordon, Michelle Woogen, Brian DeGennaro, Frank Mintz, Jeff Scott, Joe Triolo, Dena Smith, Arthur Dreschler, & Sara Soto. I’m hopeful that more people from the NY weightlifting community will step up to carry that torch and continue the work. Please think of throwing your hat in the ring and giving back to the sport.
For the moment, my plan is to train locally at Oly Concepts. Danny Camargo has a nice facility with a great vibe. I am still available for remote coaching. If you are interested, please reach out.
